Public servant jailed for criminal breach of trust (2019)

A public servant was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment on August 17, for committing criminal breach of trust.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Dayangku Didi-Nuraza binti Pengiran Haji Abdul Latiff’s facts of the case stated that Norwidyawati binti Haji Mokti, 44, committed the offences between November 2016 and April 2017, while in government service as a civilian administrative clerk posted at the Police Royal Guard of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).

Syariah High Court issues first conviction for theft (2019)

A local man was recently convicted by the Syariah High Court of Bandar Seri Begawan, in the first Syariah case involving theft, said the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) on Wednesday.

Muhammad Amiruddin bin Azlan, 18, was found guilty of Sariqah (theft) and offences committed under Section 55 (3) (b) of the Syariah Penal Code Order, 2013, which carries the sentence of Ta’zir (punishment for offences at the discretion of the judge).
