50 ASEAN scholarships on offer for students (2020)

Students from Brunei Darussalam are invited to apply for ECM Libra Foundation ASEAN Scholarships with an allocation of USD3.5 million for 2020/2021 to support 50 students across ASEAN nations.

The scholarship will help academically and culturally gifted students in ASEAN member countries to live up to their academic potential.

In The Courts (2020): Local man faces drug trafficking charge

A local man was indicted in the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday with a charge of trafficking 1.2 kilogrammes of methylamphetamine or syabu.

Senior Magistrate Azimah Abdul Rahman did not take the plea from Mas Fadillah bin Ibrahim, 32, on the charge as DPP Affyian Abdul Rahman informed the court that the analysis on the drugs is still ongoing, and the report is needed to finalise the charge against the defendant.

BND3 exit, entry charge at border posts from August 1 (2020)

Starting August 1, all citizens, residents and foreigners travelling through land control posts or checkpoints in Brunei Darussalam must pay exit and entry charges known as ‘Caj Perkhidmatan’ (CaP), which is BND3 per person for a one-way trip and BND6 per person for a return trip.

The implementation for Exit and Entry Charges Order, 2020 was announced by the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) on Thursday.

COVID-19 Brunei: Bandarku Ceria vendors call for easing of restrictions (2020)

Street vendors involved in the Bandarku Ceria programme are seeking consideration from the authorities for the recommencement of their commercial activities.

The weekly programme is currently limited to individual leisure pursuits, with business operations temporarily put on hold until further notice.
