Emergency calls go up with rise in forest fires (2019)

Emergency calls made to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) rose in September compared to August.

In a release, the FRD disclosed that it received 797 calls in September, from which two were on building fires, five on house fires, four on electrical fires, one on a collapsed house and three on gas leak.

Vote on a name and place Brunei among stars (2019)

It’s time for Brunei to take its place among the stars – by name.

Bruneians can now vote on 10 shortlisted names by visiting the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam’s (PABD) website at www.bruneiastronomy.org/NameExoWorlds.

Voting period for the pair of star and planet ends on November 13.

Hagibis affects flight schedules (2019)

Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) announced that flights to Japan and vice versa have been rescheduled due to Typhoon Hagibis bearing down on Japan.

Flights to Narita, Tokyo Japan on BI695 after midnight were rescheduled to 7.30am today and will arrive at 1.25pm (local time), while the flight BI696 from Narita, Tokyo Japan to Bandar Seri Begawan will depart on 3.25pm and arrives at 8.50pm (local time).
