25,211 workers in construction sector

THERE are a total of 25,211 workers in the construction industry alone, made up of 22,510 foreigners, 2,141 locals and 560 permanent residents, according to statistics from the Employers/Employees Census 2017 compiled by the Labour Department.

The data applies to a total of 1,777 active business entities within the construction industry in Brunei Darussalam.

THE one-day Australian Education Open Day held in Radisson Hotel on Friday pulled in a large number of Bruneians who are looking to further their studies in Australia.

The event gathered representatives of Australian institutions and established education agents to provide first-hand advice on studying and living in Australia to prospective students and their parents.

TWENTY-SIX colleges and universities with diverse educational programmes at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels will be joining the 6th US Higher Education Fair scheduled on February 26 at the Songket Hall of The Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong.

Sharing the information on Friday for the upcoming US Higher Education Fair were Education USA Advisor, Maya T Robles and US Embassy Public Affairs Officer Daniel Lee.

AMBASSADOR of Japan to Brunei Darussalam Motohiko Kato hosted a farewell ceremony for twelve Brunei students on Friday.

The students will depart to Japan on February 18 for a seven-day Japan-ASEAN Students Conference under the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youth (JENESYS), an exchange programme launched by the Japanese Government.

THE Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) organised a prize presentation ceremony for its Royal Skies (RS) One Million Miles January 2019 winners at the Royal Brunei Customer Service Centre, RB Plaza in the capital on Friday.

The monthly draw selected nine winners. Prizes were given for 100,000 miles (one winner), 50,000 miles (one winner), 20,000 miles (three winners) and 10,000 miles (four winners).
