COVID-19 Brunei: More Bruneians complete self-isolation (2020)

Another batch of Bruneians who recently returned to the country from abroad and underwent the mandatory 15 days’ self-isolation reunited with their families.

This batch of Bruneians arrived on June 21 on a special Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) flight from London.

Brunei’s IHR on right track (2020)

Brunei Darussalam has made good progress in the implementation of the International Health Regulation (IHR), with 90 per cent of the indicators under the Joint External Evaluation (JEE) scoring three and above (maximum score of five).

An important element that supported this was the establishment of the National Committee for IHR Implementation.

Restaurants and cafes are now able to increase customer capacity to 80 per cent, as Brunei Darussalam enters the third phase of the de-escalation plan.

At the same time, open-air stalls are allowed to provide dining services at 100 per cent capacity, while adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Brunei on Tier 2 Watch List in US human trafficking report (2020)

Brunei Darussalam remained at Tier 2 Watch List status in the latest United States (US) government Trafficking in Persons Report for the second consecutive year. The US State Department’s annual report on human trafficking, launched last week has placed Brunei Darussalam on a “watch list” for not doing enough to tackle the problem.
