COVID-19 Brunei: Brunei records one new COVID-19 case (as of 01.12.2020)

Brunei Darussalam recorded a new COVID-19 case on Tuesday when a 26-year-old woman who arrived in the country on November 20 tested positive for the virus.

She is receiving treatment at the National Isolation Centre (NIC).

The new case brings the national tally to 151.

Don’t neglect youth issues, says His Majesty (2020)

Youth crime, dismal job prospects for Pusat Bahagia students and the welfare of volunteers involved in managing the COVID-19 outbreak were among the issues raised by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in a titah during an unscheduled visit to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) on Monday.

“The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports is responsible for cultural, youth and sport matters, in addition to dealing specifically with community development,” said His Majesty.

His Majesty makes surprise visit to MCYS (2020)

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam paid a surprise visit to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) on Monday.

The monarch toured the Community Development Department, Pension Section, Youth and Sports Department; Administration and Finance Division; Research, Development and International Affairs Division; Social Services Division; Information Technology (IT); and Pusat Bahagia in Kampong Pulaie.

Police arrest armed robbery suspect (2020)

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) apprehended a man for alleged involvement in an armed robbery of a convenience shop in Jalan Pasir Berakas, Brunei-Muara District.

The incident took place on November 29 morning where a cashier of a convenience shop was the victim, according to Acting Head of Major Crimes Investigation, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Acting Senior Superintendent Haji Mohamad Khairul Amilin bin Haji Idris.
