Book store driver pleads guilty to misappropriation

A DRIVER of a book store yesterday pleaded guilty to committing criminal breach of trust and will be sentenced on Monday.

Filipino Jeffrey Munoz San Miguel, 33, admitted to DPP Yvonne Lim’s statement of facts which was read before Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana binti Haji Abdul Rahman.

THE Ministry of Communications (MinCom) hosted a ‘Procurement and Integrity’ briefing yesterday, to ensure sincerity, efficiency and accountability for all departmental projects under the Brunei Government.

The guest of honour was Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Minister of Communications.

OVER 100 artists are expected to turn up for the 2018 Korean Modern Art Festival at The Empire Hotel & Country Club from January 15 – 18.

The festival sees the joint collaboration between the Korean Fine Arts Association and the Brunei Art Forum, Creative Space Brunei and the Korean Embassy in Brunei Darussalam. It will be facilitated by Sinar Tour Sdn Bhd.

THE Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, urged municipal boards in the country to formulate plans to make cities more vibrant, cheerful and capable of attracting more visitors.

At the same time, the cities must initiate steps to enhance economic growth, especially by supporting micro, small and medium enterprises, said the minister.

IBTE welcomes 251 new students

THE Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Central Campus welcomed 251 new students as part of its January 2018 Intake during an orientation ceremony Wednesday at the School of Aviation, IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus in Jalan Utama Berakas.

For the January intake, seven Higher National Technical Education (HNTec) programmes and four National Technical Education Certificate (NTec) Programmes are being offered at the school under the IBTE Central Campus.
