Chinese woman fined for prostitution

THE Magistrate’s Court yesterday handed down a fine of B$1,000 to a Chinese woman who pleaded guilty to prostitution.

Zhao Caixian, 42, was ordered to serve two months in jail in default of payment by Magistrate Hajah Noor Amalina binti Dato Paduka Haji Alaihuddin. According to the statement of facts, she engaged in sexual activities with an individual for B$100 in a room at a hotel in Jerudong at 5.29pm on March 24, 2018.

Local man jailed for stealing electrical cables

A 29-YEAR-OLD local man was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment after he pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to stealing electrical cables from an unoccupied building.

Acting Chief Magistrate Pengiran Masni binti Pengiran Haji Bahar heard that Khairul Anuar bin Rambli, accompanied by another person who is at large, stolen electrical cables from Safinatunnaja building on Jalan Kianggeh in the capital on April 3, 2018.

Gambling gangs fined

EIGHT local men were ordered to settle fines after they pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to gambling.

A fine of B$5,000, or five months’ jail in default of payment, was handed to Ahmad Najib bin Md Hussin, 34, for allowing his residence to be used for gambling, while the rest of the defendants – Sea Kong Hin, 38, Sea Kong Lin, 38, Mohammad Azri bin Abdullah, 42, Samsul bin Enchie, 30, Awangku Mohammad Noh bin Pengiran Ahmad, 39, Mohammad Sah Rimi bin Awang Haji Pudin, 34, and Mohamad Reduan bin Damit, 34 – were ordered to pay a fine of B$1,000 each, or serve jail for a month in default of payment, for engaging in gambling.
