7 companies fined for illegal dumping

SEVEN compound fines were issued for illegal dumping from the beginning of 2018, according to a statement released by the Law Enforcement Unit of the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department Wednesday.

According to a statement, six companies were found guilty of the offences under Chapter 30, Section 12 (1) (a) of the Minor Offences Act, while one company was immediately issued a compound for having violated Section 12 (1) (d) Minor Offences Act.

MUIB presents Zakat money to Sungai Hanching fire victims

THE Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) yesterday presented a total of $600 in Zakat funds, to three recent fire victims from Kampong Sungai Hanching.

The donation was presented by Jurainah binti Abu Bakar, a Senior Religious Officer, as the representative of Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop, the Acting Secretary of MUIB.

23 workers unhurt as house catches fire

TWENTY-THREE workers employed in different companies escaped unhurt when the rented wooden house they were staying in at Jalan Kilanas, Mulaut caught fire on Monday night.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 8.32pm.
