Search continues for missing man at Kg Menengah Lamunin

THE search continued Sunday for a 72-year-old local man reported missing during the weekend, at an orchard farm in Kampong Menengah Lamunin, around 20 metres from the main road.

Members of the Special Squad Unit under the Fire and Rescue Department, the K9 Unit from the Gurkha Reserve Unit, personnel from the Company C Reserve Unit of the Royal Brunei Police Force, and local villagers joined the search-and-rescue operation Sunday.

Window tinting, smuggling offences uncovered in Kuala Lurah op

THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) recently conducted a joint operation with several law enforcement agencies at the Kuala Lurah Control Post.

During the operation, the RBPF issued a compound fine to the owner of a vehicle for window tinting, while the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) detained three Malaysians for possessing 19 packets cigarettes and another Malaysian for possessing a bottle of alcohol.

Local filmmaker brings a taste of Brunei to Asean Culture House

LOCAL filmmaker, Abdul Zainidi, recently took time off from his studies in Busan, Korea, to attend the Asean Culture House event that features and promotes Brunei culture.

The Asean Culture House is a government organisation and institute where Asean member countries promote their culture, arts and handicraft.

Bruneian woman makes her mark in US film music industry

A YOUNG woman from Brunei Darussalam has become the first from the country to work in the film music industry in the United States (US) of America.

Aisyah binti Zulkarnain, 22, composes music for visual media, mainly for films. She graduated from the University of Rochester, New York in May last year with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a minor in Studio Arts.

Kuala Lurah murder case remitted to High Court

THE Magistrate’s Court Saturday ruled that there is sufficient ground to pursue a case in which four men have been charged with murder and abetment in the death of Haji Aziz bin Haji Johara at the Kuala Lurah Control Post last January 2017.

Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana binti Haji Abdul Rahman remitted the case to the High Court for trial after finding that the preliminary inquiry into the case brought by Deputy Public Prosecutors Sharon Yeo and Nurjauinah binti Haji Kula has enough evidence for the prosecution to pursue it.
