THE Veteran Motorcycle Club (VMC) celebrated its 1st anniversary at Wafa Hotel Ballroom at Annajat Complex in Beribi recently.

Present as the guest of honour was Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications Dr Haji Supry bin Haji Awang Ladi. Also present was Acting Director of the Land Transport Department Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud.

Clerk lands behind bars

THE Intermediate Court Wednesday handed a 27-month jail term to a local woman who pleaded guilty to eight charges of cheating her employing agency of its money to the tune of almost BND40,000.

DPP Atiyyah Abas informed Judge Radin Safiee bin Radin Mas Basiuni that Ruhaya binti Mohd Razali, a finance department clerk at the Authority for Info-communications and Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI), befriended a colleague whose job included issuing AITI cheques for payments of various expenditures incurred by AITI.

Elderly man jailed for machete assault

THE Intermediate Court Wednesday handed a three-year jail term to a permanent resident who assaulted a man with a machete.

Judge Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Haji Kefli heard from Chin Kui Wui, 60, that he committed the offences against the 58-year-old victim when he was drunk, because the victim hadn’t paid off a debt. The money was from the defendant’s own savings to buy a coffin.

Red flag raised on four products

THE Ministry of Health (MoH) has alerted members of the public to a health product and three types of cosmetic products that have been tested by the Laboratory of Pharmacy Section, Scientific Laboratory Services, MoH and found to be adulterated with undeclared, potent western medicine.

In a press statement, the ministry shared that the affected health product, Semenax Capsule – manufactured by Leading Edge Health – was found to be adulterated with Sildenafil.
