Dangers of drug abuse highlighted in briefing

THE Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) conducted a briefing session for the new intake of Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Bolkiah Campus (SBC) to provide awareness on the dangers of drug abuse and free association recently. Over 46 new students from the School of Information and Communication Technology, IBTE SBC were guided by sophomores from IBTE SBC at the Mechanical Lecture Theatre at the campus.

The briefing was aimed at reminding the students on the dangers of drug use and highlighting the importance of their well being as they are future leaders of the country.

Narcotics officers from the Drug Preventive Drug Education of NCB, Belait District, Hajah Norhayani binti Abdullah and Pengiran Mohamad Nuh bin Pengiran Mohamad, presented the briefing.

The different types of illicit drugs available in the country, the laws and penalties pertaining to the possession and use of such drugs as well as its negative effects on drug addicts were among the topics that were discussed.

The briefing ended with a question-and-answer session. The NCB officers also showed samples of illicit drugs found in Brunei Darussalam.
