THE Japanese Foreign Affairs Minister, Taro Kono, yesterday visited the JS Yamagiri, one of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) overseas training cruise ships, at Muara Port.
While on board, the minister inspected a guard of honour and presented a brief speech.
The three JMSDF cruise ships – JS Sawagiri, JS Yamagiri, and JS Yamayuki – are currently on a goodwill visit to Brunei, from February 11-14
Meanwhile, members of the public were given the rare opportunity to visit the JMSDF ships yesterday, from 1.30pm – 4.30pm.
Taro Kono is the first Japanese Foreign Minister to visit Brunei and Singapore in five years since 2013, with Brunei Darussalam being his first destination during his two-nation tour.
