FOLLOWING a report that has gone viral in the social media on March 2 concerning a trailer causing obstruction to traffic when it got stuck after making an illegal U-turn near the Sungai Besar Primary School in the Brunei-Muara District, the Land Transport Department (JPD) has contacted the company which owns the trailer, and imposed a $100 fine to the driver.
This was said by the Acting Director of JPD, Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud to the media Monday.
The penalty imposed is in accordance with Section 39 (1) Chapter 68 for not adhering to road signs. He also said the driver also faced a demerit point deduction (SiKAP) and was ordered to undergo a retest in accordance to Section 22, Chapter 68 for causing danger to other road users.
If he fails the test, the driver’s driving licence will be cancelled.
The Motor Transport Licensing Authority (MTLA) has issued a written stern warning to the company to abide to the road laws.
Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal said the JPD and MTLA reminded all logistics and transportation companies to adhere to the law to avoid hefty penalty being imposed which will affect the business of the company.
