AN ATTEMPT to smuggle contraband was thwarted during the Tiga Serangkai Operation by law enforcement agencies headed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in collaboration with the Marine Police, Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and the Sea/Land Operations Unit of the Royal Customs and Excise Department on Tuesday night.
The operation was concentrated in the waters of the Brunei River and areas where suspicious activities are believed to operate. The seized contraband were 1,148 cartons of cigarettes and a crate of alcoholic beverages. The seized goods were handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department.
The operation was not only a proactive preventive measure, but also to detect cross-border crime activities in Brunei Darussalam.
Such operation reminds the public that the enforcement will not be hesitant in taking action on individuals who violate the laws of the country.
