29 arrested in gambling bust

TWENTY-NINE individuals were arrested for gambling activities during a police raid on residential quarters located at Simpang 1236, Kampong Tanjung Bunut in Jalan Tutong on Sunday.

The suspects comprised 21 locals, four Bangladeshis, three Malaysians and an Indonesian.

In the evening crackdown, officers from the Anti-Vice and Gambling Suppression Unit under the Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Brunei Police Force found eight sets of computers containing the SCR888 online gambling program, seven slot machines, two gambling simulation machine tables, and items used for traffic light gambling, as well as cash believed to be used for the gambling activities.

The items were seized and taken to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. The case will be investigated under Section 6 (1) of the Common Gambling Houses Act, Chapter 28.
