A BRIEFING to discuss missing or damaged fire hydrants in the Belait District was conducted by personnel of Operation Branch ‘B’ of the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) Belait District branch recently.
The briefing was held at the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) of the Belait District Office.
Assistant Station Commander of Seria Fire Station and Assistant Superintendent of Fire and Rescue Muhamad Ali bin Hassan discussed the number of cases pertaining to missing and damaged fire hydrants in the Belait District.
The briefing also sought to gain support for ‘Anugerah Inovasi Perdana’ – a project by the Lifesaver 995 group, Seria Fire Station, to find solutions to combat the issue of the growing number of missing/damaged fire hydrants.
Among the solutions included the creation of a group in the surrounding area of STKRJ Lorong Tiga Selatan, Seria as part of a pilot project to help raise awareness of the importance of fire hydrants through various programmes and briefings.
To help kick start the project, a fire hydrant was delivered to a key location in STKRJ Lorong Tiga Selatan, Seria, which is to be maintained by the community, led by Village Head of STKRJ Lorong Tiga Selatan Haji Saidin bin Haji Ibrahim.
Legislative Council (LegCo) member cum Penghulu of Mukim Liang Yang Berhormat Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin and LegCo member and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Labi Yang Berhormat Hanapi bin Mohd Siput participated.
Senior Superintendent of Fire and Rescue Muhd Shahreeni bin Haji Yussof, Acting Belait District Officer Ridzuan bin Haji Ahmad, mukim penghulu and village heads, as well as personnel from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), Belait District Office, Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board and Public Works Department also attended.
