Five suspects arrested in online gambling raid (2019)

Five people were detained on Wednesday for suspected SCR 888 online gaming, in a collaborative raid by the Tutong Police District and the Anti-Vice and Gambling Suppression Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department under the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).

Bruneians Hayatul Akmar binti Joffri, 33, Abdul Aziz bin Mohammad Yassin, 57, and Mohammad bin Haji Sabtu, 55, were arrested along with Malaysians Sia Chen Chuan, 32, and Ham King Ping, 24, during the raid on a convenience store at No 39, Berjaya Complex Holding in the Tutong District.

 

Cash and a record book for the purchase of gambling tokens were brought back as evidence to the Tutong Police Station.

The case is being investigated under Sections 4 and 6, involving organised gambling dens under the Common Gambling Houses Act, Chapter 28.
