Careers and employability are key to consider when furthering education and graduates should be able to contribute to the nation’s capacity building.

This was said by Managing Director of Findlay Sunita Martin during the Findlay International Study Fair at Songket Ballroom, The Rizqun International Hotel on Wednesday.

Representatives from 19 universities and colleges from United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia were on hand to meet with the students to provide information and options to further their studies overseas.

Acting British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Natalie Gowers-Barnes attended the event.

Senior Business Development Manager of Austrade Josie Abdullah was also present to advise the students on Australian Education and universities.

The Scholarship Section of the Ministry of Education, officers from the Brunei Darussalam Accreditation Council, representatives from the Centre for British Teachers (CfBT), Brunei Methanol Company and Telekom Brunei Berhad were also present.

Findlay has helped hundreds of students at different stages of the process, using its expertise and experience to guide students in the right direction.

“We ask students about their interest and what they studied for the ‘O’ Level or ‘A’ Level as well as the career they are interested in. If the students are unsure, we carry out a Morrisby Career Profiling Assessment which looks at a person’s aptitude, interests and personality to suggest appropriate careers for them,” Sunita Martin said.

As for the preparation for university life overseas, she said, “We provide the students with information during a pre-departure session and we also cover issues including home sickness and culture shock. We do what we can to make the transition as smooth as possible.”
