Tutong agricultural areas come under LegCo members’ scrutiny (2019)

Legislative Council (LegCo) members made a working visit to review the Rural Agricultural Development Area, particularly in the fruit farming industry in Kampong Mungkom, Kiudang recently.

The delegation comprised Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Haji Hasrin bin Dato Paduka Haji Sabtu; Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Putera Maharaja; Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Ghani bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Dewa Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahim; Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid @ Sabli bin Haji Arshad; and Yang Berhormat Haji Mohimin bin Haji Johari @ Jahari along with their spouses.

Village Head of Kampong Kiudang/Mungkom Haji Muhammad Saiful bin Abdullah Anja, in his capacity as the Acting Village Head of Kampong Pad Nunok; Tourism Development Manager of TravelHub Mohd Daud bin Abdullah; and Chairman of KPLB Area for Meriuk and Kiudang Mohd Iman Safwan bin Muhd Andok were also present.

The visit to Meriuk Farm Stay of Kampong Mungkom Kiudang began with briefings from the chairman of the farm and TravelHub.

It proceeded with a visit by LegCo members to the agricultural areas to take a closer look on fruit productions and sales.

Among the fruits cultivated here include durian, tarap, jackfruit, cempedak, kembayau, banana, langsat and mata kucing.

LegCo members also tasted several fruits at the agricultural development areas and durian suluk (Mungkom) of which the tree is about 100 years old.
