A permanent resident was ordered by the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday to settle a fine of BND12,000, after he pleaded guilty to assisting an illegal public lottery.
Ting Teo Ngo, 55 would have to serve 12 months in prison, in default of paying the fine.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Nurjauinah binti Haji Kula stated that the Royal Brunei Police Force found the defendant with cash and items related to 4D betting games following a raid at his workplace on September 11 and at a nearby shop on September 13.
The defendant admitted to having collected illegal 4D bets since 2016.
Chief Magistrate Pengiran Masni binti Pengiran Haji Bahar presided over the case.
