Relentless Entertainment Brunei will hold its ninth musical production on September 28 at 7.30pm, and September 29 at 1.30pm and 7.30pm at the Arts Centre Theatre of Jerudong International School (JIS).
This was announced by co-founders of Relentless Amy Cheong and Mardi Hedius at a media sneak preview on Friday.
Amy said, “Hairspray, a Tony Award-winning musical, continues to be one of the most widely produced musicals today, not only because of its wit and charm, but also because of the beautiful message of acceptance and progress that it portrays.
“It is set in 1960’s Baltimore in the United States, telling a story about Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart on a mission to follow her dreams, which is to dance on the Corny Collins Show. Tracy wins a spot on the show but faces scrutiny and bullying from the network producer, Velma, and her popular but vicious daughter, Amber.
“The bright, energetic story of Tracy Turnblad teaches us all to look past our differences and fight for every human being’s equal rights,” Amy said.
Tickets to the musical are available for purchase at The Coffee Bean Brunei’s Times Square, Onecity Shopping Centre and Supa Save Mata Mata brances.
In Belait District, tickets are available at The Coffee Bean Brunei Supa Save Seria branch.
Tickets can also be purchased online via Progresif website.
Meanwhile, Mardi said the musical features over 40 talented cast members ranging from 13 to 52 years.
“It will be a fun, entertaining and colourful family event, which will take the audience on a journey of emotions,” he said.
