Cyclists participate in the event

Over 200 cyclists participated in the Varsity Cycle 6.0, a donation drive for the Learning Ladders Society co-organised by Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) on the occasion of the 73rd birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Chancellor of UBD, UTB, UNISSA and KUPU SB.
The cycling expedition began at UTB and was flagged off by Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad. Among the cyclists participating were Vice-Chancellor of UBD Datin Dr Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz; Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB Haji Ady Syarmin bin Haji Mohd Taib; Rector of UNISSA Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal; and Ra’es of KUPU SB Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar.
Other participants included senior officials, lecturers, staff and students of the four universities as well as members of the public.The 73km cycling expedition started from UTB to Tungku Highway and Jalan Menteri Besar heading towards the Prime Minister’s Office for the 14km first pit stop hosted by UNISSA.

The expedition continued by cycling along Jalan Utama Berakas and Muara-Tutong Highway towards the Muara roundabout. From there, the participants headed back along the Muara-Tutong Highway heading towards the 52km second pit stop near the Lambak Flyover hosted by KUPU SB.
The participants continued their journey along Rimba Highway before merging onto The Empire Hotel & Country Club roundabout and then cycling back to the Integrated Science Building at UBD, where the Varsity Cycle 6.0 route ended.
