Gifts, knowledge of Brunei at History Race Challenge (2019)

Team 022 comprising Johan Danial, Faiz Nawi and Husraime Hussin emerged as the winner of the Brunei History Race Challenge 2019 at the Brunei History Centre in the heart of the capital on Sunday.

The trio, who are fitness and running friends, won BND500 and a rice cooker from Cuckoo.

Johan Danial said, “We didn’t expect that we could win the race. We are really happy. The race was fun and challenging.

“We learnt a lot during the race. We know many of the buildings but we didn’t know the stories behind them. The race provided us the opportunity to know more about Brunei,” he added.

Second and third places went to Team 021 and Team 007.

Sixty-five teams participated in the challenge.

Government Relations Manager of Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd Hajah Normah binti Ahmad presented the top three prizes.

The event, themed ‘Learn History to Inspire the Future’, was organised by the Brunei History Centre for the first time with cooperation from Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd, Politeknik Brunei and Victory Athletes.

Earlier, the Brunei History Race Challenge 2019 was launched by guest of honour Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.

The challenge aimed to uphold the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) philosophy as well as promote history, heritage and Islamic architect in the vicinity of Bandar Seri Begawan. It also aimed to attract the young generation and youth as well as students to learn about the values and importance of understanding the country’s history.
