A pump attendant sustained injuries after a nozzle hose struck him when a driver had negligently taken off after refuelling on Tuesday.
This is the third such incident this year and the first injury from such an incident.
Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd (BSM) in a release stated the incident occurred on Tuesday morning.
The release added that the customer had driven off after refuelling which caused the nozzle break mechanism to disconnect. The nozzle hose subsequently hit a pump attendant resulting in an injury. The pump attendant was brought to hospital and received treatment.
The patrol station is safe and has resumed its operations.
BSM reminded the public of the importance to remain alert at petrol stations and to wait for instructions from the pump attendant that refilling has been completed, and the nozzle has been pulled out before driving off. Customers are liable to the repair costs which could be in excess of BND1,000.
