The ‘Explore Labi’ project was launched at the Mendaram Besar Longhouse in Kampong Labi II, Belait District on Wednesday.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism Pengiran Haji Kamalrudzaman bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Ishak present as the personal representative of Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong officiated the project.
Foreign dignitaries and representatives of Brunei Tourism, deputy permanent secretaries, representative from the Belait District Office, village heads and chiefs of longhouse, and senior government officials were also present.
The delegation was welcomed by Chief of Mendaram Besar Long House Brandy anak Jamau.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Mosque Affairs Officer of Kampong Labi Mosque Haji Mohd Nazally bin Noorashid.
It proceeded with a speech by Pengiran Haji Kamalrudzaman followed by the launching of the project.
Chief of Mendaram Besar Longhouse presented a token of appreciation to Pengiran Haji Kamalrudzaman.
A promotional video presentation on ‘Explore Labi’ was also screened followed by a brief traditional dance performance, Ngajat Induk Dance’, a welcoming dance by women of the Iban community to showcase the unique cultural arts and customs associated with their daily lives.
The group toured exhibitions showcasing products under the One Village One Product (1K1P) as well as traditional performances and handicrafts.
‘Explore Labi’ brochures were also showcased, which consisted tourism service providers and travel tour operators in support of the launch of the promotion.
The group also visited the surrounding area of Mukim Labi including a coffee plantation.
