Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah needs to make a paradigm shift towards a more efficient, strategic management of administration, to meet social obligations and social responsibility, said His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.

His Royal Highness was delivering a sabda as the Chairman of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Committee of Governors, during the Second Yayasan Committee of Governors Meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Thursday.

“In continuing the goal of achieving the aspirations of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah establishment, much needs to be done for it to be relevant, in accordance with changes in trends and circumstances,” said His Royal Highness.

“I am pleased to note that the strategic plan for Yayasan has been successfully updated, with a vision to ‘Self-Sufficient Society’. The target to shape an independent society, without relying completely on government assistance or relevant agencies, is crucial as the focus of Yayasan in the years to come.

“To achieve such aspirations, Yayasan needs a paradigm shift towards more efficient, strategic management of administration to meet social obligations and social responsibility, particularly in tackling current issues affecting the society, mainly in the eradication of poverty and reducing the rate of unemployment.

“More importantly, it must be stressed that the strategic plan should not be static, in line with its characteristics as a living document which needs to be updated from time to time, to ensure that it will continue to be relevant in fulfilling its commitment in accordance with the objectives of its establishment.

“I am also pleased to note that the updating of the strategic plan prioritises a Whole-of-Nationapproach by involving various agencies in jointly tackling social issues, in addition to enhancing cooperation with strategic partners, to support the efforts in taking care of those who need help in this country. I hope that the strategic plan provides a clear direction for Yayasan management, so that all measures to be undertaken would be systematic, planned and proper.”

At this juncture, His Royal Highness said, “I would like to touch upon the development status of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex, where I was made to understand that renovation works are being carried out. I hope that the works can be completed, according to the time frame.

In concluding the sabda, His Royal Highness said, “Let us pray to Allah the Almighty that His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, through the charity and good works of Yayasan, will be blessed with good health, longevity and constantly under the protection of Allah the Almighty, with the happiness of this world and in the days of the hereafter.”
