Malaysian soars to top in Brunei bird race series (2019)

Kipli Chew Chong Leong from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia captured 42 bird species in his photographs to emerge as the winner of the Brunei Bird Race Series (BBRS) 2019, Race 4 (Final): Batang Duri Edition on Sunday.

The two-day event was organised by the Tourism Development Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) with the support of strategic government agencies and tourism industry partners, local village consultative council (MPK) members and volunteers from the Alumni Association of the National Service Programme.

Legislative Council member, Penghulu of Mukim Bokok and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Amo cum guest of honour Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu awarded the prizes.

Eddy Clarence Laban from Kota Kinabalu, who captured 41 bird species, was placed second in the competition, whie local bird watcher Markim Haji Abd Rahman from Kampong Ayer captured 32 bird species and was placed third.

Government officials, village heads as well as MPK members, tourism industry private sector strategic partners and volunteers from the MPK and Alumni Association of the National Service Programme also attended.
