All set for International Islamic Conference (2019)

A full dress rehearsal for the 12th Borneo Islamic International Conference was held at the International Convention Centre, Berakas on Monday.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is scheduled to officiate the conference tomorrow (Wednesday 11th December 2019).

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was present at the rehearsal.

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar; Deputy State Mufti Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin; Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof and Ra’es of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar were also present. The two-day conference is organised by KUPU SB as host with cooperation and support from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak, Malaysia.

It is themed ‘Ilmu dan amalan penentu kebitaran Ummah’.

The conference will see 12 sub-themes covering topics relating to knowledge and theory, social science and politics, civilisation and manuscripts, propagation, Halal, Zakat and personal endowment, pedagogy of Islamic education, co-curriculum, electronic media, sports and leisure as well as thoughts.

One premier paper, six keynote papers and 82 working papers will be presented during the conference. The 2nd Borneo International Halal Showcase (BIHAS) will also take place with the theme ‘Empowering the Borneo Halal Market’.

This showcase, from 8am-4.30pm, gathers 56 companies, entrepreneurs and Halal product producers from Brunei, Sabah, Sarawak and Kalimantan to promote food, drinks, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, services, tourism, finance, health, textile, biotechnology and herbs.
