The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has informed dog owners to register their pets before February 1. This applies to dogs aged three months and above. The licences can be obtained at the payment counters of the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department, Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Department; and Tutong Municipal Department.
The counter will be open from Monday to Thursday (8am to noon, and 1.30pm to 3pm), and on Saturday (from 7.45am to 10am).
Chapter 60 at Section 4 of Dogs Act states that owners found guilty of failing to register their dogs will receive a BND250 fine or 14 days in prison for a first offence, and a BND500 fine or one month in prison for a second offender.
The ministry stated that all registered dogs are required to wear badges, failing which is an offence punishable with a BND250 fine or one month in prison under Chapter 60 Section 5 of Dogs Act.
