A certificate presentation ceremony for 14 Pre-Vocational Programme students who completed their work attachments with Sabli Food Industries (B) Sdn Bhd in November 2019 was held on Tuesday.
Six students from Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School and three from Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School completed their work attachment at Sabli Food Industries in Lambak Kanan Industrial Estate.
Five students from Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Secondary School also completed their work attachments at their school by packaging spices for the company. One of the students continued his work attachment for two months at Sabli Food Industries in Lambak Kanan Industrial Estate from September-October 2019.
Managing Director of Sabli Group of Companies Haji Asrul Hamzy bin Haji Abdul Hamid @Sabli presented certificates of participation to the students.
Director of Sabli Group of Companies Hajah Asiah binti Haji Mohamad, General Manager of Sabli Group of Companies Jasmadi bin Haji Jamudin, Special Duties Manager of Sabli Group of Companies Haji Mohd Nooh bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Dinda Haji Saman, principals, senior education officers from the Department of Schools, an officer from the Special Education Unit and four teachers also participated.
The work attachment was arranged by the Department of Schools to support secondary school students and the Special Education Unit to identify opportunities for students with special needs to gain work experience.
Sabli Food Industries has collaborated with the Department of Schools since 2015. Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Chairperson of Sabli Group of Companies Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid @ Sabli bin Haji Arshad expressed support in providing work attachment opportunities for Pre-Vocational Programme students as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) in his companies.
In another collaboration with the Department of Schools, Sabli Food Industries hosts spice packaging activities for schools where students learn basic work skills. The packaging activities are implemented in Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School, Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SOAS) College, Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School, Katok Secondary School and Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Secondary School.
Principal of Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School Sia Ai Chin, School Operations Manager of Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School Azamain bin Haji Abdul Rahim, and Principal of Pengiran Isteri Hajah Mariam Secondary School Omar Arif bin Abdullah Lasit presented certificates and souvenirs to Haji Asrul Hamzy as tokens of appreciation.
