COVID-19 Brunei: Minister urges public to use government portal (2020)

The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) advised the public to use the government official online portal at as an alternative for several government services without the need to come to the counters to curb and reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof said this during a press conference on Tuesday.

He added that to access to this portal, the public need to log in using the e-Darussalam account. The account can be obtained by registering at the government official portal.

After registration, the e-Darussalam account can be activated by attaching a clear photo and identification card number to Darussalam hotline 123 via WhatsApp 8333123 or email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Once verified, the account will be activated.

Among the online services available in the portal include the application to renew driving and vehicle licences; application licence to construct houses; application for electrical and water supplies; food import registration, and application for employment to public and private sectors.

According to the minister, as of 2019 statistics, 8,900 applications were made through online services. Out of the figure, 1,130 applications were for renewing the driving and vehicle licence.

In terms of delivery, 240 customers used the Pos Laju services to deliver driving and vehicle licence that were applied online.

The figure is relatively low, but, it is hoped that in light with the current situation the figure will increase.
