Due to the current COVID-19 situation in Brunei Darussalam, the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) will make pension payments via ‘drive-through’ method at designated locations, said Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah.
The minister, at a press conference at the Ministry of Health (MoH), said the measure was made in respect of the retirees and recipients of derivative pension (widows and dependants) who are still receiving their payment through counters.
The measure is also intended to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection in crowded places.
The designated locations are the International Convention Centre for the Brunei-Muara District, the Kuala Belait Convention Hall in the Belait District, the Tutong Community Hall in the Tutong District and the Treasury Department Office in the Temburong District.
The payments will be conducted from 7.30am-4pm on March 28 and March 30. All recipients are required to bring their identity cards, for the convenience of the Treasury Department. Pension payments after those dates will be made within 10 working days, at the MoFE building in the Brunei-Muara District and at branches of the Treasury Department in the remaining districts.
Pension recipients who already have accounts, but have not registered at the Treasury Department are advised to bring copies of their bank account card, to process their pension payments for the succeeding months.
The public is advised to contact 2380822 or 2383469, for more information on the procedural process of the pension payments.
