Ninety-eight foreign workers have been tested for COVID-19, with samplings to be carried out in stages, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, during the daily press conference at the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) Al-‘Afiah Hall.
The MoH is collaborating with the Labour Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) to conduct random testing on foreign workers, in a further monitoring on the spread of the COVID-19 infection.
The minister added, “The full cooperation from employers is needed in enabling foreign workers to undergo the random COVID-19 testing. The measures are being taken in view of the current statistics, which showed that 25 out of 135 who tested positive were foreigners.”
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham warned that although Brunei Darussalam recorded no new COVID-19 cases for four consecutive days, it remains in a state of alert, while continuing to monitor the transmission of the disease.
“Our ministry also seeks full cooperation from the public to keep on practising social and physical distancing, as well as hygiene in their daily lives, despite the current progress,” he said.
