Brunei Darussalam continued its streak of no new COVID-19 cases for two weeks keeping the total tally of cases to remain at 141.
No one is under quarantine after the last 12 close contacts completed their stint on Thursday.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar highlighted the latest COVID-19 update at the daily press conference at the Ministry of Health (MoH) on Thursday. The minister said, “Alhamdulillah, with the grace of Allah the Almighty, there is no new case of COVID-19 infection in the country. Therefore, the number of COVID-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam remain at 141.
“There is no new recovered case from COVID-19. The number remains at 136. This brings the number of active cases still being treated at the National Isolation Centre to four where two are still in critical condition. However, only one of them still requires a heart-lung machine (ECMO) as well as respiratory assistance while one case only requires respiratory assistance. The rest are in a stable condition.
“All close contacts have successfully completed their quarantine in accordance to the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) and 2,679 have completed their quarantine. In the past 24 hours, 292 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. That brings the number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 18,010.”
In its breakdown of COVID-19 cases in the country, healthinfo.gov.bn revealed that there are 110 cases in the Brunei-Muara District, 25 in Belait District and six in Tutong District.
