Drug Bust: NCB nabs three local men (2020)

Officers of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Tutong Branch arrested three local men in a shophouse in Kampung Sengkarai, Tutong for suspected drug related activities on June 24. The suspects are aged between 26 and 43.

Seized during the operation were several plastic packages and straws containing crystallised substances believed to be Methylamphetamine or Syabu, a Class A controlled drug weighing more than 20 grammes with an estimated value of more than BND4,000. Also found were several utensils believed to be used for drug consumption, plastic packets, digital scale, mobile phones believed to be used for drug activities as well as cash believed to be proceeds from drug activities.

Investigations are ongoing under various sections of the Misuse of Drugs Acts (MDA): Two suspect under Section 3A of MDA, Chapter 27 for the possession for the purpose of trafficking of a controlled drug that carries a minimum penalty of five years of imprisonment and five strokes and maximum penalty of 20 years of imprisonment and 15 strokes and possession for the purpose of trafficking more than 100 grammes of a Class A controlled drug carries the death penalty; all suspects under Section 6(a) of MDA, Chapter 27 for the possession of controlled drugs that carries a penalty of imprisonment of up to 10 years or a fine of BND20,000 or both; all suspects under Section 6(b) of MDA, Chapter 27 for the consumption of controlled drugs that carries a penalty of imprisonment of up to 10 years or a fine of BND20,000 or both; and all suspects under Section 7 of MDA, Chapter 27 for the possession of utensils used for drug consumption that carries a penalty of up to three years imprisonment or a fine of BND10,000 or both.
