Several companies have benefitted from the government’s COVID-19 relief measures.
Over 200 companies involving 2,000 employees applied for deferment for Employees Trust Fund (TAP) and Supplemental Contributory Pension (SCP).
This was revealed by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah at a press conference on Thursday.
“We also gave salary subsidies of 25 per cent for those earning BND1,500 and below. More than 500 companies with about 5,000 employees were involved. We gave subsidies from April to June,” said the minister.
Deferment on contributions towards TAP (five per cent) and SCP (3.5 per cent) for local employees earning less than BND1,500 per month in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and 25 per cent salary subsidies for Bruneian employees earning less than BND1,500 in MSMEs were provided for three months.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew said most restrictions are lifted and business activities like retail sectors, gymnasiums and childcare are returning to normal.
