Personnel from the Bangar Police Station recently foiled two smuggling attempts in the Temburong District, which resulted in the seizure of contraband items and drug paraphernalia.

Acting Commanding Officer of the Temburong Police District DSP Pengiran Saifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yussof said that two suspicious vehicles were observed at 9pm on November 30, by a patrol team assigned along Jalan Bangar to Jalan Labu.

The police immediately responded by setting up a roadblock to track down the vehicles.

During the operation, a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old foreigner was identified and stopped.

The police also located an abandoned vehicle at a house in Kampong Lakiun.

Forty-seven cartons of cigarettes, 218 bottles of liquor and 672 cans of beer of various brands were discovered in one of the vehicles, while drug paraphernalia was found inside the other vehicle.

The case was handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), for further action.
