Enforcement officers of the Halal Food Control Division at the Syariah Affairs Department along with the Royal Customs and Excise Department seized more raw meat without the Halal import permit on January 14.
The meat products included 50 kilogrammes of chicken wings, 10 kilogrammes of chicken thighs, 18 kilogrammes of lamb, 59 packets of Wise brand chicken sausages, three packets of Ayamas brand chicken sausages, and 20 packets of Likes brand chicken nuggets.
The operation was conducted following a public tip-off and intelligence gathered by the Halal Food Control Division on the storage of dubious raw meat at a house in Kampong Rimba.
The Royal Customs and Excise Department officers raided the premises at 9.30pm where they found raw meat in the kitchen and another room.
The items were seized and brought to the Halal Food Control Division headquarters. The case has been forwarded to the Royal Brunei Customs and Excise Department for further action.
The Syariah Affairs Department urged the public to relay information on raw meat smuggling activities by contacting the Halal Food Control Division hotline at 7166222 or the Halal Food Control Division office.
