Thirteen foreigners were nabbed during a series of operations dubbed ‘Operasi Langis JIPK’ by the Enforcement Section of the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) recently.
Four foreigners were apprehended during an operation at a workshop in Kampong Pengkalan Batu on Monday led by Acting Chief Officer of Immigration for their failure to show valid travel documents during inspection.
They were brought to the Enforcement Section of the INRD for further investigation under Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act.
On Wednesday, two foreign workers employed at a canteen in Pulau Muara Besar were apprehended after inspections uncovered that they were working in jobs not as stipulated in their employment visas, which is a violation under Chapter 17 of Regulation 15(3) of the Immigration Act and Regulations. Both suspects are currently under investigation.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, two operations were conducted at three different locations in Mukim Keriam, Tutong District and Mukim Sengkurong, Brunei-Muara District.
At a rented house in Kampong Luagan Dudok, a foreign man was apprehended for failure to show valid travel documents.
At another rented house at Jalan Pasai 2, Mukim Sengkurong, four foreign nationals were apprehended for the failure to show valid travel documents.
At another rented room in Jalan Paya Bunga Merah, two foreigners were apprehended for overstaying.
The INRD said they will continue to enforce immigration laws in the country by conducting operations and investigations to ensure that the laws are adhered to.
The department will also continue to enforce the Prevention of People Smuggling Order 2019 and Anti-Trafficking in Persons Order 2019.
