A celebrity-filled selfie posted by Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres has become the most retweeted image in Twitter's history - even briefly crashing the service.

The photo includes, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, and best supporting actress winner Lupita Nyong'o.

It took less than 40 minutes to beat the previous record for most tweeted image - a photo of Michelle and Barack Obama, posted on his re-election in 2012.

By the end of the Oscars ceremony, the celebrity selfie had been retweeted more than two million times.

Historical drama 12 Years a Slave has won best picture at the 86th Academy Awards, while space drama Gravity won the lion's share of awards.

Gravity's Alfonso Cuaron became the first Latin American to win the best director award, adding to the film's six Oscars for technical achievement.

Cate Blanchett was named best actress for her portrayal of the heroine in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine.

Matthew McConaughey won the best actor Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club.

James Avery of 'Fresh Prince' fame dies at 68

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star James Avery has died from complications from open heart surgery in Glendale, his manager and publicist confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. Avery was 68.

Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Avery's TV son on the sitcom, broke the news on New Year's Day on social media. "I'm deeply saddened to say that James Avery has passed away. He was a second father to me. I will miss him greatly," the actor wrote on Twitter.

In a posting on Facebook, Ribeiro said, "The world has lost a truly special man."

AIM 20 2013 : Yuna reclaimed dignity, 'Lelaki' recognized as Best Song

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Yuna redeemed herself this year, after a tarnished reputation from AIM-18, when her song 'Lelaki' won in the major categories of Best Song and Best Pop Song at the 20th Music Industry Awards last Saturday night.

Yuna's win at AIM 18 was due to errors in judging.

The night however, belonged to Hafiz when his album ' Luahan Hati Anak Seni ' won in the main categories of Best Album and Best Recorded Album.

Hafiz also took home the trophy for Best Male Vocal Performance In A Song via the same album, while Dayang Nurfaizah ended her victory drought by winning in the category of Best Female Vocal Performance In A Song.
