A senior citizen suffered injuries after an altercation with a stranger who was believed to be attempting to commit a crime at the carpark of Lim Kui Hong Building, Sungai Liang, Belait District.
Following the incident, information and pictures of the victim were circulated on social media alleging a robbery took place and advised the public to be careful.
According to Assistant Officer-in-Charge of Sungai Liang Police Station Senior Inspector Haji Rabi’ul Shukreen bin Abdullah, a report on the incident was received on January 15 at 8.12am.
The Sungai Liang Police Station conducted an investigation and arrested a local man, Sahrol Azren bin Roslee, 39 who is unemployed.
The suspect was brought to the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate’s court to face the charge under Section 392 (robbery) of the Penal Code Chapter 22.
The court ordered the suspect to undergo mental assessment at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital for a week.
The case will be heard again on January 23.
