COVID-19 Brunei: Last show for Brunei’s running enthusiasts (2020)

An army of local running enthusiasts who recently participated in the prestigious Borneo Ultra Trail Marathon (BUTM) 2020 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah have made their final appearance in an international running event amid the newly enforced travel ban in light of the COVID-19 situation.

The local runners garnered public attention following their insistence to proceed with the competition despite the increased risk of contracting the virus.

Brunei Darussalam’s runner Meo Romero of Kiasu Runners finished in 49th place overall out of 92 finishers in the 100 mile event of the prestigious Borneo Ultra Trail Marathon (BUTM) 2020 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah after clocking a time of 50:04:18 on Monday.

The local runner also recorded an 11th place finish in the men’s veteran category and became the highest Bruneian finisher in this year’s annual race.

BSB120 postponed (2020)

Due to the growing concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak, the Brunei Darussalam Cycling Federation (BDCF) and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as co-organisers of the BSB120 announced the decision to reschedule the event to a later date.

BSB120, set to be a thrilling race of 120km and 90km courses traversing Bandar Seri Begawan, was scheduled to take place on March 15.

Basketball tourney to be played behind closed doors (2020)

In view of the growing concerns of COVID-19, the Brunei Basketball Association will take precautions on the 5.11 National Basketball League.

The tournament will be played without spectators. Only players, coaches, officials and media personnel will be allowed into the court. All players, official and coaches must declare that they have not been to any of the high-risk countries within the last 14 days and they have not exhibited any symptoms of COVID-19.

DPMM FC register perfect start in title defence (2020)

DPMM FC rose up to the challenge against their well-recruited rivals and title contenders after masterminding a superb 2-0 win over Tampines Rovers in the Singapore Premier League at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night.

A goal each from Charlie Clough and Andrei Varankou in either side of the half gave the home side a much-needed lift in their league opener after a delayed start to the season.
