Mohd Ameerul Solehen handed opening round loss at SUKMA

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - BRUNEI were unable to add more medals to their tally during yesterday’s second day of the 18th Malaysian Games (SUKMA) in Sarawak.

The country’s only competitor yesterday, Mohd Ameerul Solehen Mohd Kassim, lost to eventual champion Amirul Danial Samsudin from Federal Territories in the opening round of the welterweight (over 74kg and not exceeding 80kg) kyorugi event.

Brunei host AFC Referee Preparatory Course

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - NATIONAL Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) general secretary Pg Hj Mohiddin Pg Badarudin yesterday said that a referee course at next week’s Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-14 Regional Festival of Football in Brunei can be a platform to produce the best referees in ASEAN.

Fifteen young referees from eight Southeast Asian countries — four from hosts Brunei, two from Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and Vietnam and one each from Singapore, Laos and Thailand — will take part in the AFC Referee Preparatory Course that will conclude on Sunday.

Easyway sponsor jerseys for national women’s basketball team

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE national women’s basketball team received a jersey sponsorship boost ahead of the Borneo Cup this weekend courtesy of Easyway.

Easyway representative Wira Pori handed over the jerseys to Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) chairman Lim Ting Guan and BBA vice-chairman Khoo Eng Cheong at the BBA court in Batu Bersurat on Tuesday night.

Bruneians finish second at CrossFit tourney in KL

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - BRUNEI’S Darren Chai and Stephanie Liew were in a team which finished second in a field of 17 teams at last weekend’s Hopper Warrior 2016 CrossFit competition in Kuala Lumpur.

Competing under the banner of Team Borneo Alpha, Hybrid Movement’s Chai and Liew joined forces with two others from Kota Kinabalu — Nina Juna of Extremis Athletics and Howard Ming of X45 CrossFit Kinabalu, the fittest man in Malaysia — at the two-day event at the Citta Mall.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - EASYWAY came back from a 21-point deficit to edge Juramas 93-90 to complete a sweep of Group B in the SpeedSend Cup last night

Filipino import Lyndon Gudez put up an MVP performance for Easyway with 43 points to his name, which included eight three-pointers, in the win at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.
