23 Belait pencak silat exponents selected for nationals

BELAIT - TWENTY-THREE pencak silat exponents have been selected to represent Belait for the Thursday’s national championships at the after emerging champions of their respective categories in the recent district level competition.

They will be pitched against some of the nation's strongest silat practitioners as part of an event held in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 70th birthday.

Wushu wins SUKMA silver

Nat’l taekwondo team finish SUKMA campaign

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE national taekwondo concluded their campaign at the 18th Malaysian Games (SUKMA) in Sarawak with three bronze medals after both Hidayah Tul Fitri Hj Masri and Batrisyia Rafhanah Rapawi failed to make it past the first round in the final day of the taekwondo competition yesterday.

Hidayah Tul Fitri lost to silver medalist Christina Clara from Sabah in the fin weight (not exceeding 46kg) event at the Stadium Perpaduan, Petrajaya in Kuching while Batrisyia Rafhanah went down to eventual winner Rebecca John Nedek of Sarawak in the flyweight (over 46kg and not exceeding 49kg) event.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - BRUNEI is ready to host the second Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-14 Regional Festival of Football on Tuesday.

In a press conference held at the Orchid Garden Hotel in Berakas yesterday, the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) confirmed that a total of 180 players from 10 ASEAN countries will be competing at the four-day event.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - DPMM FC head coach Steve Kean admitted his charges were “lucky” to grab a 2-1 win against Tampines Rovers FC in the Singapore League Cup on Thursday night.

Playing without suspended Portuguese forward Paulo Sergio, three-time champions DPMM FC struggled to keep up with Tampines as the game wore on and won the Group A match after Singapore League Cup debutant Mohd Azim Izamuddin Hj Suhaimi latched onto a mistake by Stags’ goalkeeper Joey Sim to net a late winner.
