BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - AHMAD Taufiq Murni triumphed over Pg Anak Hj Abdul Awadi ZH Pg Anak Latifuddin 7-0 in the second leg of the National 9-Ball Ranking Challenge on Sunday.

The nation’s top cueist, Taufiq sealed his spot in the final after beating Teo Chee Soon 7-4 in the semi-final while Pg Anak Hj Awadi advanced to the final after beating Lim Wei Kok 7-1 at the Fullcan Pool and Snooker Centre in Beribi.

Bronze for Brunei at 92nd Japan Synchronised Swimming C’ships

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - NATIONAL synchronised swimmer Jacqueline Lim clinched a bronze medal at the 92nd Japan Synchronised Swimming Championships Open in Tokyo last weekend.

A press release issued by the Brunei Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) yesterday stated that there were nine countries competing at the April 29-May 1 tournament which serves as one of the preliminary meets leading up to the Rio Olympics in August.

Tiara withdraws from Rio Olympic Games

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - NATIONAL swimmer Tiara Shahril Anwar has officially withdrawn from the Olympic Scholarship awarded by the International Olympic Council (IOC) through the Olympic Solidarity Programme to her last November.

Tiara, who holds national records in 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle swimming events, arrived at the decision after she found it difficult to balance her academic and sporting commitments.

National Under-16 Youth League kicks off

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) kicked off their first ever National Under-16 Youth League with Projek Ikan Pusu (PIP) scoring a 3-0 victory over Perda at the Menglait Sports Complex.

In a press release, PIP head coach, Hj Omar Hj Jamil said: “We are happy with the win, but Perda gave us a good challenge.”

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - DPMM FC are looking to get back to winning ways in the Singapore League (S-League) when they face Geylang International FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas tonight.

The reigning S-League champions fell 2-1 to current league leaders Albirex Niigata (S) FC last week, but head coach Steve Kean believes there was nothing wrong with the team’s performance in what was their third defeat of the season.
