Brunei set for ITF World Junior Competition

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - BRUNEI will be making its long-awaited return to the ITF (International Tennis Federation) World Junior Tennis Competition in Sri Lanka next month.

The trio of Ben Sii, Henry Kwang and Kieran Lai will compete in the pre-qualifiers of both the singles and doubles events at the Under-14 competition scheduled for March 4-9, and it has been a long absence for Brunei as they last participated in the competition in 1996 when they were the hosts.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE Brunei Darussalam Cue Sports Association (BCSA) postponed their Biennial General Meeting (BGM) due to a lack of attendance last night.

BCSA vice-president Mohd Kamarul Ariffin Hj Arapan said that the BGM at the Billiards and Snooker Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas could not be carried out unless a minimum of two-thirds of the total members from the association attended.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - DEFENDING champions of the DST National Veteran Football League XN FT secured their first-ever Veteran Football Association (VFA) Sumbangsih Cup after beating VFA FA Cup winners Ministry of Development (MoD) 4-2 last night at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Former national player and hero of the night Md Suni Mat Jerah - who completed a hat-trick - broke the deadlock in the 15th minute after an assist from Pg Sallehuddin Pg Hj Damit and XN FT began to gain their momentum in the first half.

Dato Paduka Sheikh Adanan triumphs

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - DATO Paduka Sheikh Adanan Sheikh Mohammad was crowned the champion of the overall gross category at the 25th Teacher’s Day Celebration Golf Tournament yesterday.

Held at the Royal Brunei (RB) Airline Golf Club in Berakas, Dato Paduka Sheikh Adanan carded a 73 to win the title at the one-day tournament.

McLean ready to get back into gear

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - BRIAN McLean is more than ready to kick back into gear for DPMM FC in the new Singapore League (S-League) season.

The Northern Irish defender missed more than a month of pre-season training and finally arrived in the Sultanate on Tuesday after becoming a father for the first time at the beginning of the year.
