Beart eyeing fifth place finish

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - NATIONAL rugby coach John Beart said that finishing fifth out of the seven teams competing at today’s Southeast Asia (SEA) Rugby Sevens Series in Singapore is a realistic target for the team - if they play to their maximum potential.

Brunei is pooled in Group A alongside Indonesia, Laos and Singapore while Group B is made up of Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.

Brunei win gold, bronze at veteran badminton tourney


BELAIT - TWO veteran’s mixed doubles teams from Brunei bagged gold and bronze in the amateur category at the ongoing 45th World Morning Cup and Wu Wen-Ta Memorial Badminton Championship 2016 in Chinese Taipei.

Married duo Abdul Gapar Obey and Nurliana Abdullah took first in the above 60-years-old amateurs while their Bruneian counterparts James Leun Wai Nyap and Kelly Tan Ling Ling placed third in the same category.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - DPMM FC are gunning for their first back-to-back victories in this year’s Singapore League (S-League) season when they host an out-of-form Balestier Khalsa FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas tonight.

The Brunei side are coming off their third win of the season after beating the Garena Young Lions (Singapore national Under-21 football team) 4-1 last Friday.

BDAS to hold more dodgeball tourneys

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE Brunei Dodgeball Association (BDAS) with the support of Greencity Concept Sdn Bhd will be organising more tournaments after a successful turnout in last weekend’s Greencity Wondering Dodgeball Tournament at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex.

A total of 24 teams competed in the two-day tournament with one of Malaysia’s top dodgeball teams, Hydra’s Crusaders, emerging champions after beating Team Ravens 3-1 in the men’s category final.

Belait Cycling Club set for races in Bintulu and KL

BELAIT - BELAIT Cycling Club (BCC) is planning to compete in road races in Bintulu and Kuala Lumpur later this month as they look to test themselves against the region’s best cyclists.

Manager of BCC Mohd Sufrizal Hamdan said two seasoned national athletes – Reduan Yusop and Hadrie Morsidi – would head down to Bintulu, Sarawak, for the Kuala Tatau 60 kilometre challenge this Sunday.
