BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THREE-TIME champions Easyway eased their way past Propel 99-46 in the SpeedSend Cup at the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) court in Batu Bersurat — their fourth straight win in Group B since the annual tournament kicked off on July 9.

In a post match interview with The Brunei Times last night, Easyway team manager, Wira Pori highlighted that the match against Propel was an experimental set-play and he was pleased with the outcome.

Brunei end AFF U-16 Championship campaign with 4-0 defeat to Laos

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE national Under-16 football team yesterday concluded their 2016 AFF (ASEAN Football Federation) Under-16 Championship campaign without a win after succumbing to a 4-0 defeat in their final group match against Laos at the Olympic Stadium, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Brunei were drawn in Group B alongside defending champions Thailand, hosts Cambodia, Laos and Timor Leste at the July 10-23 competition and opened their campaign with a 3-0 loss to Timor Leste on Monday before falling to Cambodia 2-0 on Wednesday.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE national netball coach Thilaka Jinadasa believes that her charges made real progress after a series of friendly matches with the Maldives netball team. The friendly games served as final preparation for the team at the 10th Asian Netball Championships to be held in Thailand from July 31 to August 7.

The Royal Bees continued their dominance in their third and final friendly match against the Maldives national team yesterday, winning the match comfortably 76-18 at the National Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex in Berakas.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - DPMM FC opened their Singapore League Cup campaign with a comfortable 4-0 win over Warriors FC in their Group A opener last night.

All the goals came in the second half for the three-time champions, with Rafael Ramazotti netting a double while the duo of Paulo Sergio and Adi Said got their names on the scoresheet with one each at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.

Brunei fall short in pencak silat at AUG

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - BRUNEI fell short in their first event of the 18th ASEAN University Games (AUG) after Muhd Amirul Hj Ali Amzah lost 5-0 to Vietnam’s Bui Ba Duc in their pencak silat tanding 45-50kg category at the Bedok Silat Federation Hall in Singapore.

The sultanate’s previous outing was in Palembang, Indonesia, two years ago and the contingent of 47 athletes brought back a single bronze medal in the heavyweight division in the sport.
