Veteran Football Association FA Cup semi-finalists decided

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - LAST year’s runners-up Al-Idrus will face I-Team in the semi-finals of the Veteran Football Association (VFA) FA Cup on Aug 19.

The draw for the VFA FA Cup semi-finals was held at the VFA Headquarters along Jalan Muara yesterday, with the other last four match pitting Mohais FC and DST National Veteran Football League defending champions XN FT against each other.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - TEN local powerlifters from the Tropikal Barbell will be competing in the MPA Strength Assembly Meet (SAM) which will be held from August 20-21 at the Jaya Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

The tournament is organised by the Malaysia Powerlifting Alliance and the annual two-day event attracts up to 80 powerlifters from the South East Asian region as well as powerlifters from Canada and the United States.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - HIS Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC), attended a briefing on the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) on Sunday at the Windsor Barra Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 57-member Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) will hold the multi-sport quadrennial event in Baku, Azerbaijan, from May 12-22 next year.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - NATIONAL netball coach Thilaka Jinadasa has now set her sight on the South Korea Invitational Netball tournament at the end of this month. The national netball team had arrived home yesterday after competing at the 10th Asian Netball Championship (ANC) in Thailand where they finished sixth, but Jinadasa has already put her mind on the next task.

“Four players from this squad (ANC) will be joining me with the junior (national under-21) team in South Korea and we now need to go back to work,” said the Sri Lankan in an interview with The Brunei Times.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - BRUNEI Gunners Softball team learnt a valuable lesson from their recent outing at 2016 Softball Queensland Masters Tournament in Australia. The only invited team in the tournament lost all their matches at the three-day tournament held at the Meakin Road in Brisbane.

Brunei Gunners kicked off their campaign with a 10-0 defeat to eventual winner Brisbane Giants in the first round on Friday morning and followed that up with another 10-0 loss to Bruins in the afternoon as they were relegated to the second division.
