WBC crash out of Kinabalu Triples Borneo Cup Lawn Bowls C’ship

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - WISDOM Bowls Club’s (WBC) ‘B’ team of Hjh Amalia Hj Matali and Esmawandy Ibrahim crashed out of the Kinabalu Triples Borneo Cup Lawn Bowls Championship 2016 after losing their final group stage match to hosts RBT Sabah 7-18 yesterday.

Hjh Amalia - who was part of the team that created history in winning the sultanate’s first-ever gold medal in the women’s fours category at the 11th Asian Lawn Bowls Championships in January - and Esmawandy started off their Kinabalu Triples campaign with a convincing 15-9 win against Sandakan 'B'.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - BRUNEI Karate Federation (BRUKAF) technical vice-president Shihan Hj Malai Mohammed Hj Malai Othman yesterday thanked parents for their support at Sunday’s BRUKAF Children Age Group and Cadet Karatedo Championship 2016.

A total of 50 participants competed in the annual one-day tournament at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Taufiq into quarter-finals

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - AHMAD Taufiq Murni was the first cueist through to the quarter-finals of the BCSA (Brunei Cue Sports Association) National 9-Ball Singles Championship 2016 after disposing Lim Young Wee 9-2 last night.

The sultanate’s top cueist needed only 70 minutes to win his match at the Billiards and Snooker Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE national cadet fencing team continued their strong showing at the 2nd Southeast Asia Pacific (SEAP) Fencing Championships in Manila after adding a bronze during yesterday’s second day of action.

Nadira Pang Mohd Rais Pang clinched the shared bronze medal after losing 15-10 to the Philippines’ Drew Celso in the semi-finals of the women’s cadet (under-17) individual sabre event.

Taufiq edges closer to BCSA National 9-Ball quarters

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - AHMAD Taufiq Murni (pic) is one victory away from advancing to the quarter-finals of the BCSA (Brunei Cue Sports Association) National 9-Ball Pool Singles Championship 2016.

The competition started on Sunday, and the Sultanate’s top cueist started off with a 9-4 win over Pg Md Faiq Hafizuddin Pg Hj Jalaluddin in Group B before cruising past Md Khalid Hj Abu Bakar 9-1 at the Billiards and Snooker Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
