Calling all 14-16 year-old footballers for Allianz Junior Football Camp 2016

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - NATIONAL Insurance is once again opening up two places for suitably qualified 14-16 year old local football players to an annual football camp training programme conducted by the coaches of current German Bundesliga champion – Bayern Munich.

For six very successful years, Munich-based Allianz SE, a German giant in global financial services such as insurance and asset management, has sponsored through its Brunei associate company - National Insurance - two slots for the training camp.

MS PDB ‘C’ clinch NBT National Sepak Takraw Inter Regu Trophy

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) ‘C’ were crowned champions of the 5th NBT National Sepak Takraw Inter Regu Trophy after beating Brunei 88 ‘B’ 2-1 (21-17, 21-23, 21-19) in the final at the Menglait Sports Complex yesterday.

MS PDB ‘C’ started off strongly in the first set and edged Brunei 88 ‘B’ 21-17 before they fell 21-23 in the second set. The match could’ve gone either way in the final set but MS PDB ‘C’ players stayed calm and scored the winning shot in the last minute of the match.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - DARREN Chai and Stephanie Liew of Hybrid Movement successfully defended their titles in the men’s and women’s open categories at the 2nd Borneo Pangazou Functional Athletics Tournament in Kota Kinabalu yesterday.

Chai defeated nine other athletes to claim the men’s open category, which consisted of four total events involving functional movements over two days, at the Oceanus Waterfront Mall.

Kota Junior, RizFiz match stopped due to error

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE Takaful Brunei Futsal Super League match between reigning champions Kota Junior and RizFiz Futsal Team was stopped last night due to a technical error at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

The final futsal match of the day was stopped just five minutes into the second half with Kota Junior leading 6-3.

Kean eyeing unbeaten run

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - DPMM FC coach Steve Kean believes they will have to go unbeaten until the end of the Singapore League (S-League) season if they are to stand a chance at retaining their title.

The side are looking to snap a three-game run without a win, which includes two straight losses at home, when they host Hougang United at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas tonight.
