Standard Chartered Brunei win one silver, five bronze medals at Tri Nations Cup

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE Standard Chartered Brunei delegation returned from the Tri Nations Cup Challenge 2016 in Kuala Lumpur after winning one silver and five bronze medals.

The 52 Standard Chartered Brunei staff members were in the Malaysian capital over the weekend to compete in six sports —10-pin bowling, basketball, pool, futsal (men’s and ladies) and netball — with their counterparts from Malaysia and Singapore.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE SPECIAL Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD) team was all smiles when they returned home from the 6th TAFISA (The Association for International Sport for All) World Sports for All Games 2016 in Jakarta yesterday.

Competing for the first time at the Games, the four-athlete team collected one silver and two bronze medals from bocce — the only sport they competed in.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - FAIQ Jefri Bolkiah is ready to embrace his role as the playmaker for the national football team at this week’s ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2016 qualifiers in Cambodia.

The 18-year-old national footballer arrived back in the sultanate late on Saturday from the United Kingdom, where he plies his trade for English Premier League champions Leicester City.

Shafeek praises Sharks’ first half performance

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - A STRONG first-half performance helped the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Sharks beat the Knights Rugby Football Club 27-10 in the semi-finals of the Brunei Rugby Football Union (BRFU) Premiership on Sunday.

Sharks coach Mogamat Shafeek Kamalie felt that his charges did just enough in the first half at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex in Lumapas to set up a repeat of last year’s final against defending champions Kukris.

Brunei-Japan Badminton Exchange set for Oct 24-27

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - BRUNEI will be visited by a team of Japanese national badminton players from Oct 24-27 as part of a sports exchange programme between the two countries.

A press release from the Embassy of Japan in Brunei stated that the Brunei-Japan Badminton Exchange will be held to commemorate the 70th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
