BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE Deputy Minister of Education 7-a-side Football Cup kicked off on Friday with two teams securing passage in the next round of the tournament.

Curriculum Education Department A topped the group A with 10 points after three wins and one draw. They are joined by Cluster 3 A who also recorded 10 points following three wins and one draw at the Mahawangsa Primary School football field in Lambak Kiri.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE Kukris recorded back-to-back win in the 2016 Brunei Rugby Football Union (BRFU) Premiership, defeating Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Sharks 35-5 yesterday.

The defending champions put up a valiant display defeating the Brunei Rugby Seven Series champions Sharks in their home turf at the UBD Sports Complex at Jalan Tungku Link.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE Beruang Blazers ended the second leg of the Yuwang EBL Basketball League winless after falling to a 91-73 loss to the Labuan Wasps last night.

In what was their fifth straight loss in the competition, it was the first time that Filipino import Lyndon Gudez didn’t topscore for the Blazers.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - PENGIRAN Anak Hj Mohd Basheer Pengiran Indera Mahkota Anak (Dr) Kemaludin Al-Haj and Lt Col (Rtd) Hj Mahmud Hj Yaakup were crowned champions of the 7th Audi quattro Brunei 2016 Charity Golf Tournament yesterday.

The duo carded a 42 at the Royal Brunei Golf and Country Club (RBGCC) in Jerudong to book a place at the World Final in Barcelona next month.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - NATIONAL wushu coach Li Hui now has to look forward to the World Junior Wushu Championships after having to skip today’s Asian Wushu Championships.

Li was preparing Brunei’s golden girls — Faustina Woo Wai Sii and Lee YingShi — for the women’s duilian (duo sparring with broadsword and spear) event at the Sept 1-5 competition in Taoyuan, Chinese Taipei, with high hopes that the duo would do well after winning gold in the discipline the last time the Asian meet was contested four years ago.
