Chikara continue hot streak at 16th ASEAN Open

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - CHIKARA extended their unbeaten streak at the 16th ASEAN Open Women’s Softball Tournament to five games after defeating Papua 5-0 in Bandung, Indonesia yesterday.

Chikara’s head coach Manuel Bacariciz expected a tough outing but felt that learning about their opponents the day before helped them grab the win.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE Brunei Darussalam National Badminton Association yesterday confirmed that the country will host the highly-anticipated World Challenge Badminton Championship in November.

According to Brunei Darussalam National Badminton Association president Hj Antin Ahad, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) sanctioned tournament was originally slated for last year but was postponed due to a lack of funds and venue.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - CHIKARA are through to the semi-finals of the 16th ASEAN Open Women’s Softball Tournament with two games to spare after thrashing Lodaya 13-0 in Bandung, Indonesia yesterday.

It was their fourth win in as many games, and speaking to The Brunei Times after the convincing victory, captain Luvelyn Maganda praised her side’s teamwork.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - PG SALLEHUDDIN Pg Hj Damit may have hung up his boots in professional football, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t ready for the next big challenge.

The former DPMM FC skipper will be competing in the Titi100 Road Ultra Marathon next month in Malaysia, and the 42-year-old is set to take on the 100-kilometre race which will take him from Selangor to Negri Sembilan and back.

National netball team to conduct trials next month

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - NATIONAL netball coach Thilaka Jinadasa will be conducting the first trial to select potential players for the national pool next month.

It will be held from 8–11.30am at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas on March 11.
