NATIONAL 10-pin bowler Natasya Rafie returned last weekend with another gold medal in her repertoire after clinching the title of Champion in the Women’s Graded division as well as fifth place in the Youth Girls Open division of the 51st Singapore International Open.

This is Natasya’s second gold and fifth podium finish in international tournaments within eight months. The 18-year-old was the first Bruneian ever to win the Singapore International Open Bowling Championship.

BRUNEI Darussalam’s under-21 netball team fell to an 84-25 defeat to Malaysia in their third Group ‘B’ fixture of the Asian Youth Netball Championship 2019 in Kashima, Japan on Tuesday.

Five-time winners Malaysia was the finalists from the previous edition and is one of the challengers aiming to wrestle the crown from defending champions Singapore.

Brunei swimmers make mark as Ashley sets new national open record (2019)

BRUNEI Darussalam’s swimmer Ashley Chai sets a new national open record in the 200m backstroke in the 43rd South East Asian Age Group (SEAAG) Swimming Championships 2019 recently, pairing her 100m backstroke national record two months earlier.

The national swimmer posted a time of 2:37.77s at the Morodok Techo Stadium Complex in Phnom Penh, trimming her old time of 2:38.30s which she managed in 2016.

5th Amateur Boxing Championship winners (2019)

THE 5th Amateur Boxing Championship organised by the Brunei State Amateur Boxing Association (BSABA) concluded last Sunday night at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Hazim Yazid from Shark emerged champion of the 56 Youth category after defeating Muhammad Faiz Haziq from Wolfpack.

Indonesia overall best at karate championship (2019)

INDONESIA emerged the overall champion at the Yura Dupa Khoadad Cup Karate Championships at the Youth Centre last Sunday.

The Indonesia karate team bagged 17 gold, four silver and eight bronze medals. Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr Sujatmiko received the Challenge Trophy on behalf of the team from Dayangku Yura Siti Nurul Nisa.
