BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE National Football Association Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) Futsal Team (NFT) picked up their first win in the Takaful Brunei Futsal Super League 2016 after a hard-fought 3-1 triumph over Pegastar FT last night.

NFT are now on three points and move one spot up to ninth position in the 11-team table on better goal difference than 1st Five while Pegastar remain eighth with six points.

Kean denies Leeds rumours

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - DPMM FC coach Steve Kean yesterday dispelled rumours that he was poised to take over at Championship side Leeds United FC.

The English second-tier club were without a manager after the sacking of Steve Evans on Wednesday, and it was reported on Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb that former Blackburn Rovers boss Kean was the favourite to succeed him at Elland Road after holding talks with Leeds’ Italian owner Massimo Cellino.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - FOUR national junior athletes will be competing in the 17th Asian Junior Athletics Championships in Vietnam today.

Mohammad Hakeem @ Faiz Sulaiman will be competing in the men’s 100m and 200m event while Rio 2016 Olympics hopeful Maizurah Abd Rahim will be lacing up in the ladies’ 100m and 200m event at the Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City.

BBA set to organise two tournaments in July and August

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - IT WILL be an action-packed July and August for basketball in Brunei.

The Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) have lined up two tournaments with the CIMB Cup - held in conjunction with His Majesty’s Birthday celebrations - to tip off on July 9 followed by the Mum Bakery Cup on August 6.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - NATIONAL fencing coach Rocky Poerawinata yesterday said that having more national fencers will boost the country’s chances of success at international tournaments.

The team won one silver and one bronze medal at the recent 2nd Southeast Asian Pacific (SEAP) Fencing Championships in Manila to improve on their two-bronze haul from last year.
