Beart optimistic despite results

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - NATIONAL rugby coach John Beart lauded the national rugby 7’s team for their discipline and fighting spirit at last weekend’s 2016 Borneo Sevens Rugby Tournament in Sabah despite finishing without a win.

Brunei started their campaign with a 57-0 defeat to hosts and eventual champions Borneo Eagles and followed that up with a 59-0 loss to Charis Rugby from Australia.

BDTA Open Junior Doubles finalists confirmed

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - THE top-ranked duo of Timothy Lim and Zen Sii sealed their place in the final of the first leg of the Brunei Darussalam Tennis Association (BDTA) Open Junior Doubles tournament after a 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory over Filipino sisters Lavinia and Noelle Manacap yesterday.

They will face the pair of Md Nurul Andi Hambali (pic) and Rajvir Jutla, who eased their way into the final after beating Ben Sii and Rahul Kumar 6-2, 6-1 in the other semi-final at the National Tennis Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - BRUNEI 88 ‘B’ emerged champions of the annual Brunei 88 Sepak Takraw Championship (Open category) after edging Malaysian side Triple Star 2-1 (21-18,19-21,23-21) at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex on Sunday.

Brunei 88 ‘B’ team sealed their spot in the final after beating Benading United of Sabah, Malaysia 2-0 while Triple Star secured their slot after their 2-0 victory against the Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB).

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - BRUNEI Shorinji Kempo concluded their first-ever National Inter-University Kempo Tournament (Open category) campaign in Indonesia by sealing a gold medal in the mixed embu (artistic) regu yudansha and a silver medal in the embu pair yudansha last week.

Brunei were represented at the four-day annual tournament at the University of Brawijaya in Malang City, East Java, by team captain Dk Hazirah Khairunnisa Pg Hassanuddin, Ak Ahmad Taufiq Pg Sallehuddin and Dk Siti Amalina Fitri Pg Dato Paduka Hj Rosli.
