Brunei face uphill battle in AFC under-16 qualifiers (2019)

Brunei Darussalam under-16 football squad face an uphill battle as they have been drawn into Group G along with hosts Indonesia, People’s Republic of China, the Philippines and Northern Mariana Island for the 2020 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-16 Qualifiers in Jakarta, Indonesia held from tomorrow until September 23.

Despite the tough outings ahead, the team is vying to perform well and win as many matches as possible.

DPMM FC’s pair of substitutes Razimie Ramlli and Adi Said made an instant impact to help their side return to the top of the AIA Singapore Premier League after a 2-0 victory against Albirex Niigata (S) at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik attended to watch the match.

The Masters 5th Ladies and 7th Men’s Fastpitch Softball NBT Trophy is set to start today, Wednesday 11th September, until Saturday at the Berakas Sports Complex with teams from seven countries competing.

In conjunction with the event, a sponsorship was made from Realmix Brunei in the form of Realmix Premium Energy drinks at a handover ceremony held in the VIP Room of the Berakas Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Para badminton athlete sets off for Thailand championship (2019)

After months of training under Coach Mohamad Zuno Kartono bin Haji Ali and former Olympian Jasper Yu, Md Najwan bin Haji Umar Ali is ready and set to compete in the Thailand Para Badminton International Championship 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand from September 16-21.

Md Najwan will be the first para badminton athlete to represent Brunei Darussalam in the competition that will attract the best para badminton athletes from over 20 countries looking to qualifying for the Tokyo Para Olympics 2020.

Brunei Darussalam petanque athletes Azmi Eddy bin Mohd Harris, Muhammad Faris bin Masri and Abdul Afiq bin Abdul Aziz grabbed a bronze medal in the men’s triples of the 2nd Thailand Petanque International Invitation 2019 in Rayong, Thailand.

Held from September 5-10, host nation Thailand which comprised Somyod Yindeesup, Sathaporn Ongnoi and Warit Songma struck gold while Taiwan trio Hsu Ting-Jui, Chang Hog-Da and Wu Hong-Wen claimed silver.
